Cynthia Louise Bissett was her mother and vice-president of the mobile operator Verizon. Her father was Joseph Anthony Germanotta, Jr. an entrepreneur. She grew up in the exclusive Manhattan Upper East Side with a Catholic family. Because of this, her parents put their daughter at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. It is a Catholic and exclusive school. As a child she was very interested in music. She learned to play the piano at age three. She also wrote her first song at age thirteen. She performed in open mics. Queen, Madonna Madonna, Madonna, and David Bowie were her favorite performers. When she graduated from high school she attended New York University's Tisch School of Art in music studies. The school didn't allow her to finish her studies and she decided to pursue a musical career.
