Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance variety earned her acclaim across many styles from period dramas to action and thriller. Johansson is the daughter of an architect and producer was brought up as a child in New York City. Hunter was twins with her younger sister. When she was a kid she started acting. In fact, by seven She had auditioned for several commercials. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after and attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. In her early years Johansson was in Sophistry with Ethan Hawke and made her movie debut at Rob Reiner's North in 1994. Johansson subsequently appeared in Just Cause (1995) but her debut came in Manny & Lo (1996) which was a film about abandoned sisters who escape. The film received the attention of critics for her character as a teenager who has suffered a disfiguring accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention as cynical teen exiled Rebecca in Ghost World (2001).
